Being on the fields and courts with your kids during their childhoods is such a fulfilling experience and provides a platform to influence the lives of your kids and their teammates for years, decades and generations to come. But, have you ever felt that you weren't prepared for such a mission as youth coaching and, consequently, missed out on experiences with your kids that you can't get back?Would you jump at your next chance to coach your kids and their teammates if only you had more direction and confidence to do so?
I grew up playing sports and had experiences that shaped my life going forward. As an adult, one of my greatest passions has been coaching my boys and creating experiences for them and their teammates that they can look back on years from now with fond memories.
I've been in the coaching field since 1999 in both professional and volunteer capacities. Since 2015, I have coached my 3 boys in the youth sports environment. Coaching them has been both rewarding and challenging. I've found that the experience brings out both the best and worst in me. But through it all, I've been present for my boys, which is something I'll never regret.
